Hi Everyone, in the previous video, Cinnamon demonstrated how set a
plain sleeve into an armscye. It is amazing how beautiful this simple sleeve can look when it is properly set. In this video, Shari is going to show you how to properly set in a gathered sleeve.
Gathered sleeves come in all shapes and sizes that range from a simple puff to a voluminous Gigot. The trick is how to neatly gather in all the extra fabric to fit in the armscye. The concept of gathering fabric is rather simple, sew one or more rows of long stitches inside the seam allowance where you want the fabric gathered and then draw up the stitching threads to make the gathers. For the best results, however, you need to understand how to control your fabric so that the gathers behave the way you want them to.
