I have a collection of 17 1/2 inch Barbies from way back when grand children were little.
I would like to sew clothes for them again since I don't have the small ones anymore.
Is there a way to convert the 12 1/2 inch Barbie patterns to the larger size Barbie.??
I would like to go along with your new series and do a selection of yesteryear styles for my
Great Grand daughters.
your new series on Barbie
While I’m not sure how well they would work because I don’t know the 17 1/2” Barbie proportions, there should be some Monster High 17” doll patterns out there and some options from Ellowyne that might work. Ellowyne is shorter but at least has an adult style bust line that would help with shaping. You could possibly try out some simple options (shift dress, t-shirt, etc) to see if some patterns could just be printed at >100% (maybe add 5%?) to get close for the right size. Skirt would probably need to be lengthened and similarly lengthen the waist for tops (and probably lower bust point). Knits can be forgiving, especially since Barbie often has more daring outfits… lol.
thank you for suggestion. I actually found one 17.5 Barbie pattern so I willl be attempting to draft patterns from that one and see how it works out. I also have the 25 inch Barbie and the 36 inch Barbie so I will try to draft for each one from I have learned about drafting. I would like to make a collection of the classic 30"s through 60' gowns from the movies like Loretta Young. Loved her gowns coming down her staircase ..
